Greetings! I can tell you that for me, without a doubt, the scariest, creepiest, most terrifying book I have ever read was "Mein Kampf" by Hitler.

This book was the basis of Nazism. It laid out Hitler's bald and terrifyingly hatred of a culture that has ever been published.

What makes it even more terrifying was that a well educated and modestly cultured nation of people actually bought into this and raised up one of the most demented armies ever created. Pograms were created to foster and spread the racism that was written in this book.

If you are a WWII buff, you really need to read this book to understand what exactly were the motives in Hitler's mind and also the "bill of goods" that he sold the German people and led them to sleep, then to war. Hitler even laid out how he was going to conquer other countries and why he was going to do it. Once he was in power, Hitler did exactly what he wrote.

It's getting closer to a hundred years since Hitler wrote "Mein Kampf", and the message still is very disturbing and sent shivers up my spine when I read it. But it is an important read if you want to understand WWII history.

Take care.

People respond to humor and horror idiosyncratically. The only book I've read during which I had from fear to keep the bathroom light on at night was GHOST STORY by Straub. This reaction I believe was visceral and not necessarily based on literary merit.

Pet Sematary by Stephan King or Tick tock by Dean Koontz. Something about either animals coming back from the dead or voodoo dolls coming to live freaks me out a bit.
