This isn't an answer. Someone sent this to my myspace a while back.

**Top 10 Resons Why Gay Marriage Should be Illegal**

1) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject
unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, liposuction and air conditioning.

2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

6) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

7) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

8) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

9) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans...

Definetely. My aunt is a lesbian, and she and her partner have been together and in love for 15 years, longer than a lot of couples I know, and the law still prevents them from being married. It's stupid and unfair. Also, if gays were able to be married, it might stop some of the hatred towards them, because then the government would finally give them the respect they deserve, and treat them as people.

I think that after being together for eleven years, my partner and I don't need a piece of paper or a ring to validate how we feel about each other. As for the legal hurdles, we're looking into other ways to strengthen our positions on that front. Let the bigots and HypoChristians have their say; love will always find a way.

I agree. Although marriage was originally a religious union, it has become to much a part of today's society to be limited to certain people. I do not understand how anyone can argue with this.

I completely agree! I have been with my girlfriend for over two years and I love her so much. It kills me to think that I may never be able to lawfully make her my wife, even though I treat her that way now!

I think it benefits society to recognized and promote committed relationships. We know that we have gays and lesbians all over the place. It is better to have them married and settled down than have them out being wild and crazy.

My opinion is that gay mariage is a way to get healthcare for your partner. It seems to me for a people that historically thumbed their collective noses at tradition all of a sudden are in such a hurry to legalize bonding themselves the same way that a man and a woman are bonded.
