Greetings! While I had a steak and beer for my twenty-first birthday in the military, I would applaud you for doing anything you desire. BTW, while I periodically enjoy a beer, or a glass of wine or an occasional hard drink, I would never judge someone for choosing not to drink.
If you don't want alcohol in your life, then by all means, don't have it. It's your life, you should enjoy it the way you want.
I also think that going and playing at Disney-land/world for your birthday is a wonderful memory. My wife and daughter have to visit Disneyland at least once every two years or they get itchy.
If you feel that strongly about alcohol, I hope the one that you fall in love and settle with also does not enjoy alcohol. That sounds like an important issue with you...and the good news is that many people share that viewpoint, so you are not alone.
Don't let people judge you for that. Lead your life and enjoy it the best way you know how to. Take care.

I am not a big drinker myself and my children seem to be headed the same direction. My 19 year old has tried it out and decided that the party scene isnt really her thing, she rather sit on the couch with her boyfriend and watch a movie or go to a restuarant.
The thing with other people is they seem to have to justify why they drink so put other people down when they don't.
I don't think it is an issue of whether choosing not to drink will effect the fun side of life as life is what you make it. I just wouldnt make a big thing about not drinking as that can be just as annoying as someone who preachers that you are missing out.
Personally i would much rather go to Disneyland than Vegas any day. So just be yourself!

Good on you girl, I am muslim and my relgion doesn't allow it but still even if this wasn't the case (have tried it) I wouldn't do it either because I dont want to and even though I get called boring just because my boyfriend drinks etc, I would rather be in total control of myself always, I dont need alcohol to make me fun, I can have a good time without you and obviously so can you, who cares what people say, you will be the healthy one with strong liver at the end. Keep standing up for what you believe in sweetie!

I am 17 almost 18 and just about all my friends drink and I just don't want to deal with it, I have turned my friends down so many times that I have lost count. If your friends are judging you and not liking the fact that you don't like drinking then maybe it's time that you get new less drinking friends. I don't plan on drinking because I would like to do something with my life. I hope this helps.

they might seem like good friends but they're not. real friends wouldn't make you do something you don't want to do. they wouldn't make you feel you have to drink to be a part of their lives. lose them... move on. you're going to do wonderful things with your life if you just stick by your morals. one day, you'll find a love that will be so worth the wait. someone will be able to appreciate the person you are for standing up for yourself and your beliefs. it's going to be hard being alone but you'll be so much happier in the long run. and you won't have to explain to your kids why you did "the cool thing" instead of the "what was right".

I dont drink much either. My family has a history of alcoholism, and not to long ago my uncle died in a drunk driving accident and killed the other driver, he was the one drinking. That was like the final straw for me. I drink a little, but I don't like to often. You're not the only one that feels that way, trust me.

You can still go to Vegas and have a real good time without drinking. I do it all the time. But Disneyland is also a fun trip. Don't drink or do anything you don't want to do. It should always be your choice not theirs.

No, honey....there's only a very small window when people are obsessed by alcohol and you are nearing the end of it. Avoiding alcohol, as an adult, is no more worth ridicule than someone avoiding caffeine. As you become an adult, you put away childish things (at least most of us do.) You can drink --- or not. Most people won't even notice.

For the same reason you'd get judged if you were for alcohol. You get judged either way.
Sounds like your friends and family are a lot like us orcs, only we're ugly 24-7 and even do ugly things when we are sober. Maybe they're half-orcs?
Elves should stick with elves... only elves like wine... hmm... Dwarves... no... Hobbits... no... Seems like everyone is getting liquored up in the Lord of the Rings, don't it? Even the Ents have entdraft... Although maybe it's more like rootbeer...

Don't worry about it. You just be you. You will be farther ahead of those who drink a lot; just put the $$ that you would spend on alcohol into a coffee can, and watch it add up fast. Then you can treat yourself to something nice, like a hot stripper! Just kidding!
Good luck!
