My friend since elementary school does this all the time.

The day before ill ask him if he is busy or not the next day and he replies that he probably is but he has to do work or something. I usually reply that we can contact each other if you are free.

So I try to contact him with no luck, thinking that he probably had to do work.

Well online I see he posted pics of him with a few other people today.

WTF

Im going to college on Monday and I may never see him in awhile. What kind of crap is that.

You are going to open the world up at college. You will meet a lot of new people. This guy was a true version of a fair weather friend. Why, who knows, but your life will be better off without him in it. Ten years from now, when everybody gathers together to recall the 'good old days', you may be surprised to find he missed you. You filled a need that was not a social need. He will be the one who loses out. Time to be an adult. Go find the world.

Your best bet with this issue is to ask him why he is doing this, while explaining how hurt you feel. Don't get angry, don't attack, listen calmly, but be clear in your feelings. It makes you hurt and confused, so instead of trying to figure it out, go to the source. If he is a friend, he will apologize and understand your feelings. Be prepared that he may get angry at first, but remain calm! NO ACCUSATIONS~ that is a bad move. Eventually he will get calm and will apologize. However, if he denies what he has done, doesn't apologize, cops an attitude, then, he is not your friend. And, it's time to move on.

Being direct and honest in a friendship is always the best choice. Never hide anything, honestly.

If this is behavior that is common to him then why are you surprised? Seems to me your friend is a bit self-absorbed and you going to college won't make that much an impact on this trait of his. So yeah, maybe it is crap but you've known him longer than anyone on this site so you might as well just get over it and start looking forward to all the new friends you are going to make at college...jeez just think some of them might actually care about YOU ...what a deal!!!! Have a great time at school and enjoy it.

Tell him how you feel. Ask him why does lie to you saying he is really busy working when is not really working. Tell him if he wants spend time you he is going to have to do it soon cause your going to college. If he lies to again just go to college make new friends. You do not need a person like that any way.

Go to college and forget him. Don't make the effort - he obviously only wants to be around you when the wind blows anyways. Make some new friends and move on.

hello there! well... that also happened to me. whenever me and my friends set a date to go out, one of them would say that she coudnt come since she has exams. but when you look at her pics expecially in friendster, she got tons of pics with her new friends. haha it hurt us a lot since it seems that she exchanged us for other sets of friends. well... all we did was to believe that friendship can never be broken by this circumstances. maybe they are more fun to be with but we are trustworth and true friends. just give him time to realize it. sacrifice is the key to a good relationship. just believe in you friendship and wait for him - thats the least you can do

Sounds like you have been friends for to long and now that you and him are older you need to go your separate ways now because a true friend would not treat you that way.

Please before college starts don't get caught up with people who will lie to you. You need your mind fresh when you get to college so let him be and if he really cares he'll relize what a good friend he lost.

was he with these people today, or did he happen to post pictures he already had ?

he did tell you he was busy... i don't know why people think they have to make "excuses" that they are going to work or something -- why cant' they just say "i have other plans" and leave it at that?

i guess it's guilt or whatever.. glad i don't have to deal with that junk.
