Ask a liberal. Once we leave, the lollipop fields will bloom again and the children will have the gumdrop smiles they once wore.

the main important purpose is to have a competent Iraq with a representative government. A wealthy and self reliant Iraq will function an occasion to different electorate of the midsection eastern and teach them there's a extra perfect way than religious intolerance, tribal squabbles and dictatorships. So confident, i think of the U. S. could pull out if asked after an alliance is made. To assessment this vibrant image of what could desire to be; we glance on the present subject and the even bloodier effects of failure. no longer purely will Iraqi born Taliban-form totalitarians and neighboring dictators fill the void left by employing the U. S. militia, however the information of the U. S. to fulfill its delivers would be tarnished for generations. to assert Sunnis, Kurds, and Shiites certainly can't reconcile is to discredit all Iraqis as able and compassionate people. the comparable disparaging remark grow to be oftentimes levied against Europeans decrease than a technology in the past.

The events will probably unfold similarly to what happened in Afghanistan after Soviet withdrawal:

There will be a lot of fighting between factions and ethnic groups. After the country becomes ruins, similarly to Taliban, one group may become dominant with support of some really nasty characters such as Iran, islamic radicals or some other thugs with some crazy ideology.

The real risk here is that, unlike Afghanistan, Iraq is located in an epicenter of real political storage of dynomite. There is Iran, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Turks. All have different interest, different entnicities, differences in religion, etc. On top of all that, the entire region is #1 world's source of oil. If the conflict becomes region-wide, then, boy, we'd have a problem of enormous proportions.

Middle East has the biggest Muslim population. Their religion plays a big role in politics. Muslims don't get along with each other. Its been like that for centuries. Not to mention how much Armenians suffered being the only Christians surrounded by Muslims(Turkey, Iran, Syria, etc...)

United United States shouldn't have gone to Iraq, why? Because we lost innocent soldiers for "others". After all it is NOT appreciated by nobody, even themselves.

When I hit the Lottery thats when they will start to get along by themselves.

Some people seem to think we should remain there forever to keep the peace between people who have hated and murdered each other for generations. Is this our new mission for the 21st century? Great. What a dismal future. Maybe when we've killed enough of them, they'll all just unite in hating us instead of each other. That would not surprise me. Odds are not good for the brotherhood of Muslims.

I have got a different question to you:
Are you staying in Iraq so that Sunnis,Shiites and Kurds can
leave peacefully?
For heaven's sake ,don't be naive; you are in Iraq for oil.
Your fiat currency has got no value unless you can control oil.

Yes, let's shed a crocodile tear for those people.

If their ground wasn't full of oil there'd be about as much concern for them as there is for all the other shootouts going on around the globe, that the president has no intention of doing a thing about, and that he should not have any intention of doing a thing about.

The US needs to reform its economic base. The cost of interminable war, at hundreds of billions a year is too high.
The cost of inadvertantly supplying terrorists with huge piles of weapons and cash is too high. The constant possibility of sparking a wider regional conflict is too high.

The cost is too high to justify blindly going forward with an economy based on people buying oversized, oil burning vehicles to commute in as if they were fashion accessories.

The people who stand to profit from the US foreign policy in the middle east have no intention of helping to pay that cost, let alone of sending their own kids to "help those people." They should not have as much influence on US foreign policy as they do under this administration.

If people want to commute in automobiles, the US should make it a priority to find another way to power those vehicles.

The terrorist extremists in that region are poorly organized fanatics. They haven't managed any serious attacks on US soil since 911. They hadn't managed any serious attacks on US soil for several years BEFORE 911. The only reason they care one bit about the west in the first place is, because western troops are all over the middle east. The charge that the mideast conflict represents some inordinate security threat to the west is paranoid and stupid.

Is this even a question? All progress that has been made and yes...contrary to the belief of some we have made progress, if we pulled out now, all would be lost and the last thing we would be talking about is if they were embracing each other.

If given the chance they will embrace each other with nuclear arms.

But other than that it would take their god coming down thumping them on the head and tell them to play nice.

I give it 5 bazillion to 1 that, that wont happen.

No

They will continue to kill each other like they have for centuries. The real difference will be 75% of the news media will go away and they can kill themselves with some privacy.

No, they hate each other. This is historical and the invasion and occupation has been so badly handled that these people have every opportunity to attack each other to gain power when the occupiers have left.
