These are some interesting answers... and I have to admit on a global scale this question seems a bit simplistic. But I was really just thinking about P&S and the other sections of YA's. Maybe it's a bit simplistic for YA's, too?

It depends on what you mean by getting along. If you are talking about racism, we will unfortunately always have to deal with it, because of these bigots teaching their kids that "other races are evil" while the only evil that exists is the evil inside the people preaching hate. Most of our problems in "getting along" today are caused from racism and intolerance, which we will never be able to get rid of completely in society, it is sad, but true in my mind. The only thing we can do is preach forgiveness and tolerance to children and prey that they get the message, some wont follow the path of acceptance, but some will, and that would be a start down the right path to "getting along".

I think the reason why not everyone gets along is because people have different opinions on life and how people should be treated, i.e. gay marriage, I don't support or deny the right for gays to be married, but people that are against it think just because I am not choosing a side that goes against gays means that I am choosing the gay peoples side. Their is opinion is their own even if our opinions don't match. I wish the world could be simple and everyone get along but the world wouldn't be the way it is.

Thumbs up to your question! It's true--life is too short to worry about coming onto YA and being blasted. However, keep in mind that it maybe be people's idea of a good time. Being mean may not run my world, but it runs others'. If they want to be mean, just ignore them and move on.

Because if we all were friends then the word enemy would be non-existant, competition may be a good thing it strives for us to learn more and find a solution to overcome the other and in conclusion makes us become more intelligent and knowledgable so perhaps it's best if we all don't get along...

I get along just fine, Thank You --- UNTIL someone decides for me that my opinions are not valid. They let me know that I am not thinking the way they want me to. See? That's the problem. We are all different and cannot get along with everyone on the planet. What I tolerate might be intolerable to you.........see? nuff said.

I agree with you. There's no reason to be mean and disrespectful to each other. I myself have been guilty of this and am sorry to those who I have been a smart *** to. I will work on putting barbed tongue away.

Not going to happen.
there are way too many things in the world to put against someone.
I'd love to be friends with everyone but it's unrealistic and in all honesty I don't want to be friends with everyone. I have enough problems with just the few close friends I have.

i think there is always going to be someone that don't like some one because of looks.. the way they act.. because they have more than they do.. or less than they do.. because they think differently . because they are to skinny or to fat.. race or religion.. ignorance is hard for some people to let go off.. they think they are always right.. i am sure just as i have you have to.. met a few of them.. not matter what you do .. it will never be good enough.. why? because we are all human and therefore flawed
