Can you tell how old a person is by talking to them, but not seeing them?

I can usually get a good idea of how old people are when I talk to them. When I talk to people they're usually like "Oh wow, I thought you were like 16 or something." when really I'm only 13. When I meet people my own age who are like me, I can usually tell. Can you usually tell around how old people are?
