There's got to be a better word for when someone steps off a train onto the station platform. As in...

The men step off the train, onto the station platform.

Anyone got any ideas?

How about "exited?" As in, The men exited the train, onto the station platform.

'Detrain' and 'deboard' aren't real words in the dictionary.

'step off' is fine, but if it's past tense and you're writing about only one man, your sentence should read (it doesn't need a comma):

'The man stepped off the train onto the station platform'

There is a word 'disembark' which you may be thinking of, this is really only used when getting off a ship.
