I was just wondering.. I am sure it doesnt work, but if you were to put a sim card that came from a t-mobile phone into a cingular phone would it work?

nope the hardware or phone is designed to read certain codes installed in the proprietary sim cards made specifically for that type of phone. Unless your phone is unlocked some phones can actually function but it is a long shot give it a try it might work or it might not.

it wont work unless you type in a certain code in to the AT&T (cingular) phone to unlock it. You can usually find an online store that sells the code you can go to t0mobile or AT&T and they should be able to get you the code but from what ive seen the code to unlock cellphone usually cost around 5- 250 dollars.

If the phone is locked to the network it won't. But there are ways of getting round that.

You could "unlock" your phone, this can be done if you know the codes or if you take it for a 'software' upgrade, they'll uninstall the software and install a generic one so you're not bound to the network. (funny the idea behind the sim was that in the first place anyway).

Where I live there are guys who would do that for less than 5 dollars. (It's not illegal if you haven't signed to the contrary)

it will ask you for the unlock code, if the wrong code is entered too many times the phone will be locked on the original carrier.
You can request an unlock code for the phone to use a different sim card in it.
I can tell you with ATT and Tmobile their internet isnt compatible and you will not be able to get on internet or send pics with the phones you unlock for those networks
