True meaning of life can only come from living for a true purpose. True purpose asks what were we sent here to do? What is our mission? Obviously, true purpose requires a God.
For those who reject God, they also reject true purpose. When they answer a question like yours, they are answering a different question. They answer the question, how can we get through life despite the appalling pointlessness of it all? They generally propose the following psychological tricks: 1) keep busy so you won't think about it all, 2) maintain good, happy thoughts (power of positive thinking) and 3) do things to inflate self esteem (feels good).
But for those who allow that God might exist, it seems to me that we should seek God for if we find God, we will find everything, including meaning.

I am sure someone out there love's you. And you love someone out there in the world. If you are meaning this reference to having a significant other than dont give up just yet. You never know when love will just sneak up on you and turn your world around. Dont be so hard on yourself. *hugs*
