The problem with conspiracy theories is that people see and hear what they want.

Most of the "witnesses" of the JFK assassination that reported seeing a gunman in the Grassy Knoll did not come to light until a decade later.

9/11 conspiracies believe they have physics on their side, while ignoring three basic facts: steel weakens long before it melts, aluminum burns, and stone is stronger than steel.

I just took a graduate school class on the JFK assassination. One conclusion that I made from the class is that many people start a conspiracy theory to get attention and many people believe in conspiracies in order not to face the facts of the world.

The problem with most conspiracy theorists is that they are brilliant nuts.

Whenever you research a conspiracy, ask: what is the concrete evidence? Not conjecture and innuendo, but actual facts. JFK's assassination is a perfect case study. I'll admit that there are some pretty suspicious intrigues surrounding his death, but I am still waiting for a cold, hard fact which isn't mere suspicion. I would like to see a gun, a witness, a photograph, etc. It is hard for me to believe that 45 years after his death, the conspiracy theories still thrive without bringing forth one incontroverible fact.
