It will not get better on its own, but it's not deadly. The tissue will begin to break down causing ghastly itching and possibly pelvic infection that is serious, and the infection can become systemic yeast. Diflucan 1-Dose pill is a great thing - do it. Systemic yeast is horribly difficult to control once you have it.

Hello, I'm on the second week and seeing definite improvement on my yeast infection symptoms:

Note that: If the yeast infection doesn't respond to over the counter treatment, prescription medication will likely be necessary. Similarly, if the symptoms return after two months of being treated, you should contact the doctor for professional treatment rather than resorting again to home treatment.

If this is the first time you have experienced a yeast infection, you should schedule an appointment to have the condition treated by a doctor instead of resorting to home treatment

Not treating. A vaginal yeast infection does not lead to major health problems, and you may find that a mild infection corrects itself. However, you are not likely to be able to go without treatment if you develop severe symptoms.

I found that on webmd. It didn't say how long it would take to go away. However, it did go on to say this:

if you misdiagnose your condition, you could be delaying diagnosis of a different problem, such as a bacterial vaginal infection or a sexually transmitted disease (STD). One study found that about 2 out of 3 women who think they have a simple yeast infection don't.1

Make sure you know, positively, that it is a yeast infection.
