gosh! this is so awful... someone else has the exact same phone number as me!!!

i found out few days ago that someone else had the same phone number as me...
since last month, whenever my family members called me on my cell, this other lady kept picking up the phone... so i thought the call was intercepted somehow... and some random people have been calling me, asking for some stranger with the same phone number as me
thinking how weird this was, i thought it was just a coincidence,but this lady called me a week ago asking if i got calls from strangers
something was weird & i asked her for her cell phone number... and surprisingly.. we found out we had the EXACT same number SAME AREA CODE SAME 7 DIGITS! I use VERIZON and she said her phone was a prepaid phone. she had the number for 3 years me having it for 2 years... so i told her that i will go back to the store where i got the phone and try to solve the problem
but the people at the store where i got my phone are really mean

and i am afraid they are just simply going to change my number... my phone bill has gotten over charged for long disance.. which i did not even use.. and i found out that the lady with the same phone number as me had someone living in the eastcoast.... so i'm guessing somehow her calls got added to my bill.... it's really frustrating... i even missed this important call that i was waiting for... i don't know what to do.. and the people at the store are probably just going to ignore the case.... do you think they will give me credit for the minutes that i did not use afterall?? please help!!!!

WELL.. my phone was delivered to me from Korea.. it's a SAMSUNG phone.. and the USA market does not have this phone out.. the store i go to specialize in these kind of hi-tech korean cell phones.. and i am satisfied with mine.. it's just that someone has my phone number... i'm planning to take all my bills.. but i am afraid they will try to take advantage of me... and just change the phone number without any credit given back to me.. any legal laws or rules for mobile phones that i could say when i go to the store?? because they will probably try to trick me into getting a new account without any benefit..

do not go to the store..you should have a number or a key on your phone that links you with customer service from the company you have the phone thru...do not shut up or stop calling them till you get the satisfaction you are looking for..my cell company did this to me when i wanted a fourth line a bunch of bs wouldnt let me have it due to a credit review they gave us and took the limit off our account..told them i didnt ask for it..i asked for a supervisor the moment they told me they would tell me the same thing they did i went off...i got my fourth phone and was even approved for a fifth..which i didnt need and i had it in three days..which was a lot better than the year i was originally told..my point being..there is always a boss above keep going..you are paying a bill for a service...demand that service and its up to you to ensure you get it..

This happened to my friend before. The lady that she talked to at the store said that the other person was getting the number for free somehow. So if you paid for it, she didn't. Just go back to the store and they will give you a new number for free if you can prove that its the same number.
