Easy!
1) collect like terms on each side. 3x + 4 = 7 - 2x
2) Get all terms on the one side of the equation. (remember you have to do the same to both sides of the equation to keep it equal ) First add 2x to both sides 3x + 2x + 4 = 7 - 2x + 2x
3) simplify and subtract 4 from b.s. 5x + 4 - 4 = 7 - 4
4) simplify 5x = 3
therefore x = 3/5 ie x = .6

You have had many different answers, some right others wrong. Let's explain how to do it correctly.

First combine like terms on each side of the = sign

you get 3x+4 = 7-2x (-1 +5 =4) (2x-4x = -2x)

now get variables on one side and integers on other side of the equal sign. It doesn't make a difference which goes on either side. However, I like working with positive numbers, so I will add 2x to both sides of the equation. Remember when you add something (in this case 2x to one side, you must also do it to the other side. 2x was chosen, because the right side of the equations contains a -2x and adding
(-2x+2x = 0) thus eliminating it from that side.

After doing this, you have
5x + 4 = 7

Likewise, subtract 4 from both sides of the equation and you will get
5x = 3

Now, you don't want to know what 5x equals, you want to know what x equals, thus dividing 5x by 5 will give you just x. However, again, you must do it to both sides

5x/5 = 3/5 or x = 3/5

Now, what nobody told you to do is check your answer. Go back to the original equation and plug in 3/5 for x and you get

3*(3/5) -1+5 = 2*(3/5)+7-4*(3/5)

After doing math, you will get
29/5 = 29/5 thus, you know that your answer is correct!

Hope this really explains to you how to do these problems

3x-1+5=2x+7-4x

1. simpliy each side
3x+4=7-2x

2. put x's on one side & constants on the other
x=3

3x-1+5=2x+7-4x
-1+5=2x+7-7x
-8+5=2x-7x
-3=-5x
3/5=x

3x-1+5=2x+7-4x

3x+4= -2x+7

3x+2x=7-4

5x=3

x=3/5

I will feel so stupid if I did this wrong.

simplify first.
get your variables on one side
3x+4= -2x+3
now - the 4
3x= -2x-1
x=-1
