I think Steve Phillips is a great Baseball guy. He really seems to know his stuff. I think he is right by saying that the Yankees won't make the playoffs and the Mets won't make the playoffs. Because the Yankees can't out score people every time the play and the pitching staff cna't keep the opposing team from outscoring them. And for the Mets their Offense ain't even that good anymore. Thier pitching sucks! FOr the Rockies They play in a divsion with great pitching. But their Offense is so good that the can put up enough numbers to win the game. And thier pitching staff is the best its ever been as far as overall ERA. So ever thing he said was true in my book.

I'm sorry, but the NL West is very weak. I was rooting for the Dodgers, but they have fallen off the deep end. The Rockies have the best lineup in the NL West and good pitching staff. None of the other NL teams can hit consistently or for power.
As far as the Yanks go, the Yankees made it interesting but they don't have a chance to get back into the AL East and overcome the Red Sox, WildCard maybe, but the Mariners are a way better team than the Yanks. Pitching has been a joke in NY for both teams. The Mets can't compete with the Braves.

He said the Mets and the Yankees would not get in because their pitching is terrible. The Rockies are a dark horse in his book and he said their pitching has been better then those two teams which will allow them to win the wild card. Why don't you listen a little more closely next time?

For starters, he was a former general manager and he is a respected analyst in the media. That being said, hes allowed. However, this does not mean he's always right. He says what he feels, but I do believe both New York teams will make it, duhh.

If Phillips is wrong, everyone will think he's an idiot, but that's just status quo.
If Phillips is right, he's a genius, and gets another two years to blather away from Bristol.
There's no downside for him.

Phillips is the man who said the Mets would finish 2 games over .500. I think he must be paying ESPN to hire him.

Because espn hires not the best, but whoever they can get. He's a moron. I think to work there you have to be out of your mind about everything.
