I have a cold and fever and Tylenol makes me sick. Can I use ibuprofen to bring down the fever? I've heard it's in the third trimester you shouldn't use it, and I'm just 7 weeks right now

My midwife told me a while back that ibuprofen was fine for the first two trimesters, so take it if you're comfortable doing so and it helps.

NO!!! Ibuprofen is the MAIN thing doctors tell you to stay away from while pregnant. It doesn't matter how far along you are ibuprofen has aspirin in it amungst other things that can really harm your baby. Tylenol is the only thing I know of that is safe to take during pregnancy...you might ask your doctor if there is some other type of med. you can take such as Motrin or something else but I STRONGY Advise you to check with your doc. before you take ANYTHING rather than tylenol.
Good Luck Colds last a lot longer when your pregnant

My doctor said the if the sell it on the shelves of a store, its safe to take. He did say he prefered Tylenol but thats because its less irritating on the stomach.

my daughter is 31 weeks pregnant, and during her entire pregnancy, she was advised to ONLY take tylenol, not ibuprofen

They don't want you to use ANY kind of asprine. Try using a cold rag on your head if you can't take tylenol. Good luck!

NO! No anti inflammatory drugs at all; its bad for the fetus' brain development. One or two won't kill it if you have already taken them, but try using children's Tylenol, unless you are allergic to acetaminophen.

you shouldn't use it period! it is an anti inflammatory medicine and can actually make the lining of your uterus shed, or cause contractions oh and ibuprofen DOES NOT HAVE ASPIRIN IN IT! only certain types of it does, Advil DOES NOT!
