American Gods is a masterpiece. Definitely his best adult novel to date. When I finished that book, I actually felt high afterwards, that's how amazing the story is.
Well worth reading =)

Neil Gaiman is a TERRIFIC writer. Read it, you won't be disappointed. Also, try out "Good Omens"-he collaborated with another great writer, Terry Pratchett, on that one.
Happy reading!

I haven't read American Gods yet, thought I plan to. I've read Stardust and Neverwhere; both were terrific and very different sort of stories. I love them both...I read Stardust first, nothing I would have picked up on my own since I tend to avoid mundane world entering Faerie themes, but a friend made me read it and I adored it. I got Neverwhere after that and it blew me away. He also wrote Mirrormask, which is an excellent movie. Very talented writer; definitely read his stuff. I need to get American Gods soon.

I loved the book. Well worth the time.
As for other books, my person favorite is Good Omens . . . FUNNY! To be read and re-read!
The Sandman is just incredible - I'd perhaps suggest starting there - it gives you a good feel for his writing style and sense.
Coraline is good.
Oh, who am I kidding, I don't think he's written anything that hasn't been worth reading.

AG is one of the only books of his I havent read....Good Omens (a collaboration with Terry Pratchett) is my fav. book of all time,a nd Neverwhere comes up a close second. Stardust is also very very good (imagine my surpsize when i saw the movie trailer!!!) theres a book he has called Smoke and Mirrors, which i enjoyed alot becuase its a bunch of unrelated short stories, and each one is so different and amazing it shows just how very talented Neil is. I would highly reccomend anythign by him.

I have not read that one, though I heard it was very good. I did read Good Omens, which he co-wrote with Terry Pratchett, and I thought that was great. Very funny at times and a great twist on the whole Apocalypse thing. I especially liked the personifications of the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse.
