When the British made the station, they called it Victoria Terminus, named after Queen Victoria who was reighning at that time. Thus, in short it came to be known as VT.

However, after the shiv sena was elected in the state of Maharashtra, in 1994 they removed the statue of Queen Victoria and rechristened the station Chrapati Shivaji Terminus or CST for short.

Therefore, Victoria Terminus or VT and Chrapati Shivaji Terminus or CST are one and the same and people born long ago still tend to call CST as VT.
