I don't like getting flowers. They are pretty for a while and then they die and then throw them away. I'd refer getting potted flowers or something I can plant out of doors and watch it grow.
Wine is fine, but only if your not drinking alone. And then after it's all gone all you got left is an empty bottle and a nasty headache from all the wine.
Candy isn't dandy but it's all gone in a while and all you have left is an empty box and 5 extra pounds on your buttocks and thighs
The Card--I'll take the card becasue I can enjoy that for years to come and I don't have to toss it away unless I want to.

I would rather have a card. Flowers just die, you drink up the wine and eat the candy and then there's nothing, but a card can be read over and over and displayed for others to see. The words can be read and re-read and that can be comforting on a long dark night. Give me a card any day.

here's an idea my moms boyfriend got my mom it and she loved it!
Get her a bottle of wine
and get her one red rose
and a card and a small box of candy
stick the rose in the middle of the card with with tape(make sure the rose sticks out like a bookmark and buy a little gift bag and stick in the wine(carefully wine is heavy and can tear the bag)and the candy on the inside of the bag and tape the card on the outside of the bag. on the card write what you want and include a little poem that say something short and cute like
this rose is red
a violet is blue
but I prefer the red
because it shows how much I love you
lol :-)
