There were centuries of conflicts in Europe too, but it's more or less peaceful today. Democracies usually don't go to war with other Democracies. If there is political reform and economic progress in the middle eastern countries, they might stop attacking each other. Bush has started with Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, and Lebanon. But it'll take time.

I would like to refer you to Isiah 45 and the promise God made to Cyrus the king of Persia for his love and support for the Jews.Isn't it Ironic that the One real threat to the Jewish state of Israel today comes from the Persian state of the Islamic Republic of Iran?Nothing threatens the existence of the jewish state more than the power and influence of Iran.Religion is not at the core of the conflict beause Islam and Judaism are more alike than they are different. The struggle in the middle east is more over water resources than anything else.Sadly the peace the world seeks among these people would come but at a cost.In the end a war weary jewish state would come to smoke the peace pipe with an equally war weary Persian State. Then and only then will the Lion lay with the lamb

The middle east, as was Europe years ago, is a battle ground of brother against brother, nation against nation, due to years of conflict. They have all owned the land at some point! Lost to someone else, and took it back again. The sad thing is, that we (the western nations), have created a lot of the misery by our intervention. The crusades, etc. As with Europe, it most likely, will take cataclysmic events like WWI, and WWII, to nullify the animosity and hatred. I'm afraid though, that when hell breaks loose in the middle east, it will be the big one!!!!

Well, 1st Persians are Muslims. 2nd Israelis & Palestinians will never walk side by side. And as long as Israel remains in the Mideast it will always be divided by religion. Diplomacy can fix some short term problems but that's it & that's not enough.

As feeble a president as he was, Jimmie Carter did get Egypt and Isreal together, to sign the Camp David agreement
, which stil stands today!
As a result of this, i feel ,. that while Jimmie Carter was a miserable president, he would have made a magnificent secretary of state.
Yes, maybe we will never see peace in the mideast, but even stalled diplomacy is better that people shooting at each other.

We need to teach to future generations of children love instead of hat and peace instead of war. By waging war on them and destroying their country we are not giving their children who are seeing this ANY reason to like us. It is just building their hate for us. It is just reinforcing what their parents are teaching them. We need to send teachers there to teach the future generations Islam but that killing others is not the way to get to heaven. Islam is not a bad religion in itself but the extremists use it as an excuse to kill and misinterpret it. The people who have already been taught to be extremists can NEVER be reasoned with but children can and we need to stop the cycle. It is the only way!

There will always be problems in that region. Plus if you go culturally we have been at odds with them since the greek empire. The best we can hope for is for some stability in the area.

They will always be divided by religion. The best we can work toward is encouraging them to agree to disagree and try to stay out of each other's space.
Invasions are to be discouraged.
