Well my best friend is really fun and I love her to death, but some things really tick me off.. really bad.

For one, she is really negative. She hates everything about herself, and I tell her to be positive and she says 'I won't lie to myself' and there's a difference between lying to oneself and having CONFIDENCE, but she just can't. How do I help her? Her being negative brings me down, too.

And second, she is a goody-good. I'm not saying I rebel, but I occasionally swear and I drink coffee and I'm mean sometimes and she doesn't like any of that and she gets all upset when someone else does that and she's constantly saying 'no, thats bad' and stuff and it drives me insane.

What can I do, or should I just ignore this stuff?

As people get older, we change. Perhaps at one time in your lives you "clicked". But apparently you have grown apart and are not the friends you use to be. If she gets on your nerves, you probably should distance your relationship. Still be friends, but don't feel like you have to hang out just because you are use to doing that. Find new friends who make you feel better, not worse.

Well, if she is your friend, then you have to deal with it. This is the person that she is, at least until she changes herself. But you would be in the wrong by asking her to be something that she is not. It was your choice to be friends with her, therefore, accepting her personality and who she is. If you can't deal with her faults, then you should distance yourself from her. I know it's not an optimistic answer, just a realistic answer.

Your friend was raised with different things said to her. It has become a part of her. She can change, but she needs to want to and feel it is important to her. Can you accept her with her differences? It is possible you two will go in different directions because you will see things differently. That is what happens as we grow.
