Overfilling causes the fluid to foam and bubble instead of being a solid fluid which will properly operate pistons and clutches which cause the trans to work properly as you are experiencing now...
not only is trans slipping it is overheating the fluid and the clutches, seals and gaskets in the trans too...
not very hard to correct but best left to a good mechanic though...
the transmission lines that connect to the radiator need disconnected one is a supply line into the radiator the other is the return from radiator to the trans....
do not worry about having them determine which is which...
have the person doing this get about 8 feet of rubber fuel line of the diameter that will just slip over one of the lines...
cut the 8 feet in half so there are 2, 4 ft sections one for each trans line..
also use 2 hose clamps on line from trans lines to rubber extentions which will be held by a person into a 3-5 gallon plastic bucket...
this part is a 2 person job... have the mechanic minded one
hold the lines into the bucket...
the other person is to start the engine only briefly long enough to allow the transmissions oil pump to pump out just a little more fluid than what you have overfilled it...(i.e. if 1 quart overful pump out 2-3 quarts.. then refill carefully when done)
this is estimated by the pint span marking on the stick where is shows low vs fill... as it goes up the stick incriments will be same i.e. 1/2" = pint maybe etc.. (varies by manufacturer pint vs quart...
your mechanic person will figure this out for you its not hard
now add just enough fluid back to bring fluid level back to full...
you can reuse the fluid you took out as long as the bucket was clean before you started this process

take a look at the dipstick after you drive.
is it foamy, then there is too much, bubbles on the stick
why did you add, you may have a leak and just need to get the stuff replaced.
I do a pressure and leak test on tranny's when they come in. I charge 75 bucks but if it needs work I include that 75 in the total bill so I don't charge 75 bucks than charge you 300 for fixing it I only charge you 300 bucks, unless you take it somewhere else to get it repaired then I charge the 75. I know it sounds crappy but i have people who don't want to diagnose the problem so they bring it to me I do some diags for free but not trannys too much time wrapped up in it.
I'd take it in for a looksee.

Ford made the 4 cyl transmission and if it slipps it is done and needs to be replaced with a rebuilt unit. Even one qt over filled the trans should not foam the fluid. Look at the dip stick and see check the fluid level engine running after a drive if there is lots of bubbles in the fluid. If your foaming the fluid good news. Drain out some fluid at the oil change place.

that was the problem when you add new oil to your trans
new oil came with a huge amount of detergent for washing the inner parts of the trans and if your trans pass many, MANY years with no tune up the new oil wash your clutches and now they don't have enough strength to apply correctly and now your trans slip so what you should do?
repair your transmition because it has pass out thanks to poor maintenance
next time change your trans oil in time and you can save like a 1200$ for your trans get fixed or call GEICO you will save a few buck on car insurance too ! !

too much? the fluid foams, car wont shift well/at all, and eventually can harm the trans. check it and drain if needed....
