I bought one of those mops with the disposable cloths today and on the box it reads "keep out of reach of children and pets to avoid accidental ingestion." This brings up some strange mental imagery. There are no chemicals included; it's just a mop handle with disposable cloths. Any idea how one could ingest a mop?

If it's like the Swiffer mops then the disposable cloth is sort of thin like a dryer sheet. I had a dog that would eat those things and they would show up later when I pooper scooped the backyard. He was a patriotic dog too because once I found a little American flag, like the ones on sticks that kids wave at parades, when I was cleaning up the backyard. I wonder if he saluted when he went that time?

Some of the disposable mop cloths are treated with a chemical to attract dirt and dust better or act like a polish for a shinier floor that might make a kid or animal sick. Not to mention it could be a choking hazard.

I can't envision ingesting the mop handle itself but I can see a kid stuffing the cloths in their mouth or a dog gnawing on one and developing an intestinal blockage.

My dog loves to chew on dryer sheets. Mop sheet might be the same. Since they give the warning it must have happened.

if you happened to mop up something that a small child or animal though smelled like it would be good to eat then they might try and eat it

A friend of mine has a bull mastiff that "accidentally ingested" a baseball cap....WHOLE...after a few days of not moving his bowels normally, they took him to the vet and found the cap in his gut...he went in for emergency surgery to remove it....When it comes to kids and pets....don't underestimate the ingestion capabilities of either...LOL....you'd be surprised!

Well, I do admit that it makes some kinds of very unusual mental imagery... I guess it means that we are becoming an idocracy... Write everything to avoid lawsuits!!

Young kids will put almost anything in their mouth. The company is trying to protect itself by warning you of this possibility.

Nah...it's a lot less work just to trip the waiters. Sure, it may take more time to get the spills on the people you're aiming for, but it's worth the wait.
