I think Julie N.'s point is in part accurate. The other part is that freshmen enroll while they are still at home with their parents, and the parents play a big part in the decision much of the time. It isn't the parents of the men, but that of the women who are concerned about co-ed dorms, so when parents find out that their little girl will be protected from the big bad men upon leaving home, they breathe a sigh of relief. By the time students sign up for sophomore dorms, the parents play a much smaller role.

because freshmen girls are considered 'fresh meat' and easy to take advantage of by the upperclassmen guys. it's unfortunate, but i think the schools are just trying to make things a bit safer for the new students who are just getting their bearings.

because upperclassmen get the special treatment. most schools give freshmen jack s**t. have fun :D

because freshmen are immature and most sexual assault cases happen with younger classmen.
