I got a second hard drive. I set the jumper right (so don't tell me to check it). I format the second hard drive, set it as extended and then logical. Problem is, sometimes it shows up in "my computer" or "disk management", sometimes it doesn't. when it doesn't show up in windows, it is detected by BIOS. so how do i make it show up in windows all the time???

Maybe if you try and put a partition on the hard drive it might work. I know i have a 2nd drive and sometimes if i have my computer on for like 2 days it doesnt show up for some reason. But i already have stuff on it and im to lazy to put a partition on it.

Is the second hard drive external?

Also nowadays you should not need to set anything except for the jumper to designate it as primary or secondary. Something is wrong with either the BIOS or the hard drive you bought because everything should have been automatic.

It appears to be an intermittent problem. Try replacing the ribbon cable (80 wire).
