I'm 20 weeks pregnant and just this last week have had aches on the back side of my legs, a little above my knees. It's dull and feels like "growing pains" I remember from being 12 or 13. My husband and I walk every night and I haven't done anything unusual or strenuous. Is this common? Tylenol relieves the pain but I dont want to take it every day for the rest of my pregnancy. What could this be (causes?), will it last?

this is my 5th pregnancy and it happened in all of the this is very normal you have hormones going through your body loosening up your ligiments, joints, ect.. to get you ready for labor the hormones don't know the difference between your hips and everything else in the body so you have that crampy feeling any where just wait till your pelvic and hip bones start those are fun lol good luck

Could be just the stress of a growing uterus. Your joints in yourbody loosen up as a pregnancy progresses. Go to the shoe store and have your feet measured at a reputable shoe dealer. I bet you will find that your shoes are no longer providing adequate support, especially if they are over 3 months old. You may be surprised to find that you even take a larger size. All of that can contribute to the knees which try to compensate for the load. I would look into that before I took anymore tylenol.

I'm 24 weeks and sometimes my knees feel the same way. I agree with Catherine. Eating a banana will definitely help. But also, try sleeping with a pillow in between your legs. I do that and position myself a little different at night. It seems to help alot!!

If I remember correctly from when I was pregnant, I believe it has to do with the baby absorbing your potassium. Since potassium is stored in your muscles, they tend to ache. Then, since you're walking around carrying extra weight, your leg muscles may hurt most. I usually ate a banana before going to bed at night.... they're one of the best natural sources for potassium. Hope I could help:)
