Very good question. I don't think much will happen, it's not like they're benefiting from their oil right now...well the people in the country sure aren't.

Oddly, their economy may improve. At this point most of the 'governments' in the middle east are really thugocracies and the thugs that run these countries depend on the oil wealth to keep them supplied with arms and the 'loyalty' of underlings. Absent that income stream rapid adjustments will have to happen. Possibly even real democracy though of course with a middle east flavor. I'm not 100% certain of this outcome, but it does seem that many of the countries with the least oil at least have a progressive element of sorts in their societies. It could happen...everyone likes a happy ending!

The GNP of all current Islamic countries is less then that of Spain. The people see very little benefit from the oil money as that goes to the ruling governments so the probable end result will be more revolutions against the weakened kings, shieks, etc with a short-term economic readjustment followed by same/same.

OPEC doesn't have to worry about the 1st world implementing alternative energy we aren't willing to acknowledge that it is unlikely that renewables can ever directly compete with the energy that created its infrastructure. The main cost of Renewables is the cost of energy to create them. We aren't willing to create them at a level that makes the energy available 24/7/365.

1st they/we are going to have to change the economics of Renewable Energy. Today the only greater economic disaster than investing in Renewable Energy & expecting it to be able to directly compete with the energy that created it is not to have a replacement for the dwindling fossil fuels.

2nd both side of the aisle have been informed what it will take to change the economics of Renewable Energy. They have either chosen to remain quite or like Feinstein chosen to pat herself on the back for doing exactly what will only cause our grid power bill to increase. Who ever said a politician could think outside of the box. The solution is hinted at in the history of Los Angeles.

more like...what happens to us when cheap, easy oil is gone and there isn't a new alternative?...'cause right now none of the alternatives or combinations come even close to replacing the cheap, abundant, unique, energy source that oil has been. get ready for a new lifestyle, and it's only a few years away.

Even though other resoures for energy will be available, it'll be a long time in the making before we're completely independent of oil. Ok, maybe not that long.

As far as their economy goes?? They don't have one. They'll still receive gobs of money for their oil reserves.

oftentimes i think of that is because of the fact capability performance is something that any you may do interior the quick term whilst we artwork on making determination capability low-value and obtainable. i do no longer think of every person who's heavily interior the golf green industry believes that capability performance is in lieu of capability strategies. it relatively is a 2-fold approach. we could desire to create capability strategies, yet we nevertheless could desire to apply that capability effectively. there's no longer likely a brilliant number of a distinction between capability performance and capability conservation. performance is the means by employing which we use much less (shield) capability.
