I undertand High School Musical is very popular as are shows like Hannah Montana, but RARELY do people get on the Disney Channel. Almost every single female I know in my drama classes have auditioned for Disney, and some are very good--and not one has made it.

I've only been a member of Answers for a couple days, and already I've seen numerous questions asked about auditioning for Disney, sending in resumees, and where to go to get there. But there are MANY other options out there, and you have to work your way up to the top before you become Zac Efron or Hannah Montana.

So my questions are: Do you HONESTLY think you are good enough to be on the Disney Channel? If so, why? Do you have enough experience? And why don't you want to pursue something more worthwhile such as Broadway?

Thank you all for you WONDERFUL answers!

All of you are right--Disney doesn't base anything on raw talent, they base it off of "The Look." If you don't have "The Look" they are looking for, sorry, try again next time. If you have "The Look," but no talent, they'll train you, and oftentimes, the result is bad acting.

And yes, Big R, I am a teen--I'll be turning 16 in about a month. I have a lot of experience working in entertainment, even if I've never had a paying job. I went to a Talent Scout three years ago, and he didn't ask you any questions--he LOOKED at you and told you yes or no. Back then, he told me yes--now, I'd get a no because I'm no longer a cute little kid. This is true in the business--once you get older and lose "The Look," you lose your job as well.

Also, with pop singers such as those on HSM, their singing is terrible. (Take it from someone trained.) To sing pop, you don't even have to sing well--just through your nose. They have jobs, but they're still bad.

And WELCOME to our world! Get used to it. Most of the kids that ask do not and will not realize what it really takes to make it and that not only do you need to be in LA and yes you do need an agent but that it will not happen for you overnight and you cannot choose your auditions once you get here and actually get an agent.

Believe me, they think that all they have to do is want it today and they'll get it tomorrow. Even if they live in Wisconsin or some other state. I'm not putting down WI, just using it as a random state.

Anyway, if I'm not totally fed up for the day I try to give them info on training, agents, etc. and tell tham that it's real work and it will not happen the way they think it will. Whether or not they listen who knows. Some take the advice and hopefully enroll in some classes and start auditioning for theatre, but others simply repost because no one told them what they want to hear. Perhaps they didn't take their Adderall :-)

Anyway, welcome

Honestly, its SO difficult to get any acting jobs with disney- whether with disney channel or with walt disney world entertainment. You have to meet certain age and height requirements, and you have to have the specific "look" that they are looking for.
Generally, they take people with a lot of acting experience under their belt, and they want you to be a triple : actor, dancer, and singer.
I agree with many of the others on here, that many dont want to pursue Broadway because a lot of broadway actors and actresses are unknown, and let's face it- it seems as though broadway has become relativley "dead" these days. Disney in comparison with many broadway companys (like the really useful music group), is a very famous corporation WORLDWIDE. Generally, if you can make it on disney, and if you are peopular enough on the channel, they can make or break you. Be wary about disney though, they only sign two year contracts for all of their shows unless they are so popular that they decide to have the actors sign on for more.
I had the chance to be Belle at MGM Studios, FL after having an audution with the Florida Theater Confrence in 2001, but decided that I wanted to have a career that was more "stable". I also didn't pursue it for personal reasons at the time.

I think most of these kids just want to be famous, and I also think they don't know anything other than the Disney Channel. Although, I don't know what is so great about Disney. Most of the Disney kid stars aren't so famous when they aren't kids anymore. However, that is just my opinion.

honestly, i don't even think the acting on those Disney shows are good enough..i find them so cheesy that almost anyone can do it... i was watching Drake and Josh with my 7yr old cousin..the only good actors are the drake, josh, and i think 'icarly' ..
the rest was soo cheesy..
i don't have a lot of experience..and to me experience shouldn't depict your outcome..for example someone who has been acting for say two years could be a whole lot better than someon e who has been doing it for 8years..it's based on the individual's potential..

Well, yea,it is about how good you are,but its not that they cant act, well they pick you based on if they can see you playing the character! And i know it takes time, but miley wasnt picked cuz she can act,cuz before when auditioned, they didnt think she could act.And sometimes, its not about how gud u really are, well it is,but if they think you fit the role, they're gonna call you back.Point blank. The acting on disney isnt that good,so lotz of people just might have what it takez...

I was going to say pretty much what marianne said. Are you a teen? There are a bunch of regulars on here who try to be helpful when we can for these kids. I for one think it would be great if they heard it from someone in their own age group. You obviously know something and it would be great if you would share. Welcome to the group and keep answering!
