If you want to buy more hardware with a Wii, just get an extra Wii Remote and Nunchuk. Modding the system can cause crashes when updates are released and they also render the warranty void.
You should probably get Metroid Prime 3 or Wii Play as your first game (the latter of which is bundled with a Wii Remote). Zelda is... okay.
Shooting games do take some getting used to, but once you get the hang of the controls, it's actually easier than a run-of-the-mill controller. I myself was actually about 15% more accurate on the Wii version of Resident Evil 4 than on the Gamecube version.
For games like Zelda, your "sword" feels WAY more fun to swing and the controls feel natural from the start.
For the best deals, unfortuantely, I'm going to say Amazon.com. Otherwise, try your local Gamestop.

Go to Wal mart or Kmart or target. The remote is easy and the nunchuck you would rarely use but is easy. You first game that you should get automatically (with the wii) is Wii sports including tennis and baseball. You should also buy Mario Party (8 i think)

First game you should get is definetly Zelda: twilight Princess if you are a fan of single player games. If you're more party oriented then either Rayman: Raving Rabbids, Excite Truck, Wario Ware smooth moves or Mario Party 8. If none of those seem good to you then get Mario Strikers Charged or Super Paper Mario. And its extremely easy to get use to the Wiimote + Nunchuck.

I've played the wii 3 times so far. It's easy to control, hav'ent used
the nunchuck yet. As far as were to buy it, I cant help you there.
I would suggest going to a video game store instead. ther be more answers there compared to walmart support. although, it probably be cheaper to go to walmart.
And most video game stores that I know of have a demo or something, so you can try out the controller for yourself.
hell, I played Paper Mario at the local mall.

I suggest Wii Sports or Wario Ware: Smooth Moves for your first game- both are fun, and fairly simple. Getting used to the nunchuck and remote is simple, and entertaining. I'm not quite sure about good deals... try EB Games, though. I hope that helped!

The first game should be Wii sports, or if that's included with the Wii, Wii play should be first. I don't actually have one ,but my aunt&Uncle up in Canada just recently got one when my family went up for vacation. Both of the games are awsome.
