Why can't evolution be part of an "intelligent" design?

I am not talking about Creationism at all here, so lets stay off of that issue.

And I am not a proponent of Intelligent Design, but I do think it has some merit.

Yes, but it depends somewhat on which ID theory or philosophy that you are talking about. The current buzz centers around a fundamentalist ID which is, as some of the answers suggest, fundamentalist creation errors dressed up. Intelligent Design from the point of view of God being the cause of causes (IE God didn't creat the species, God created evolution which created the species) is just as valid from a scientific perspective as saying the universe just happened. While the arguments for this are somewhat metaphysical (as are the arguments against I might point out), several rational scientists hold this view. One of whom I feature in the links below. Please read what he has to say.

I think that on a micro point, there is some level of Intelligent Design. Things do not appear to just evolve. It is rare that there is evolution without purpose, therefore in some limited aspect - there should be a semblance of intelligence in it.

By inference, we can chose what cars to build and the way cars evolve. Similarly, the whole idea of mating and procreation. I do not believe all mothers love their children the same. It can be seen on some documentaries where a child is favored over the other.

Precisely because of this, plans in a social society , especially for human society is not one where there is just Evolution; Intelligent Design by certain factors be it consensus or political power come in place. If we can understand that other social systems in the biological system have a possibility of working this way. We can definitely conclude that the possibility of Intelligent Design and Evolution are both true. The fundamental question is who is the intelligent designer; Us or some greater power?!

Intelligent design is simply the planning of which traits should be kept and which traits should not.

By this definition intelligent design started as soon as someone figured out how procreation works. Decisions have been made by people concerning evolutionary traits for centuries. Men typically look for physically attractive women whereas women look beyond physical attractiveness (bless them for doing so). Then of course there are societies where arranged marriages are common and the traits are negotiated by parents or match makers based on social status.

If people of the world could unite on this issue we could breed out all undesirable traits and breed in extra intelligence and longevity.

Think of it, we could be 200 year old brainiacs with abs of steel.

ID is made to be incompatible with evolution. It is meant to dress up the Judeo-Christian creation story in scientific garb so that religion can pass as science. Evolution holds that organisms evolve in response to their environment. Many mutations are brought forth but only the ones useful for survival stay in the gene pool. The less successful ones are eliminated (through the death of the organisms carrying the unsuccessful mutation). For instance, bacteria adapt to antibiotics or they die. I know the argument, people are more complex than bacteria, but the same holds.

ID requires each organism being designed to fit its niche. So the nature of the organisms are predetermined by some supernatural higher being. ID shouldn't allow for the development of drug resistant bacteria so now you have to ad hoc patch the theory to permit small mutations.

you're damn and comparing something it is even a thought with a longtime therory. easily sensible layout could have been at some initiating factor yet then evolution took over and finished the activity. the only genuine way you ought to use sensible layout is to commence the life in the worldwide and it relatively is probable the incorrect answer besides and you'd be shotting down the 1st financial disaster interior the Bible in case you utilize the sensible layout argument. Evolution is substitute over the years and it relatively is how issues in the worldwide that now exist have come from lesser or in the past life varieties. whether the 1st have been of any sensible layout is fairly inmaterial besides because of the fact it can't be shown because of the fact we can't pass back in time 2 billion years.

Yes, but only the part of evolutionary theories supported by science. The record of modern taxonomy, fossils, and genetics supports isolated clusters of genetically related organisms. Evolution is most likely an accurate explanation of how this cluster developed from a single ancestor. Many theories of intelligent design agree with this.

Well the big theory that supports that Evolution and Intelligent Design are both true is Quantum Evolution.

It uses some basic quantum mechanics to show how life came about.

You can read more on it with the book Quantum Evolution.

No.

BTW, you ARE talking about creationism, because that is exactly what ID is - it's creationism dressed up in pseudo-scientific clothing.

I'm glad you are not a proponent of ID - you will find that thinking logically and scientifically is much more productive.

Keep thinking critically about ID, and I'm sure that you will someday find that it has no merit.

That is a tricky question. Intelligent designers copy the efficient joints of mammals that have evolved over eons of time. it just goes to show how efficient mother nature is.

Evolution theory does not expound any control system mechanisms . It just an assummed philosophical theory .
In the scientific method we are not too keen on presuppositions.

The Universe as an entity must have a control system that has a preprogramed intelligence in order to functions as it does.
So to developped a method of control system analysis of the Universe using observation of the Intelligence behind it is a very good scientific tool to Unravel the mysteries of the Universe that our Creator has set.
