Is vastly overrated. I'm tired of people propping him to a level he doesn't belong. Fact is, Hank was a very good hitter who played an extremely long time, and broke the record because of the laucnhing pad. His career OBP is nothing to ride about, nor is his supposed "amazing homerun power".

Barry Bonds, even prior to 2000, was a superior player. He had a better career Relative ISO. ( a better metric for power than Pure homeruns), higher career OBP, more intentional walks, much better basestealing numbers, and more MVP'S and GG'S.

Hank wishes he had the all-around skills Barry did.

Who cares if Barry Bonds is a more skilled player? That's irrelevant to the fact that Hank Aaron should be the home run king.

Hank Aaron is not vastly overrated, either you idiot. Longevity and consistency is something to be praised in sport. Of course Bonds has a higher OBP, he gets walked all the time you ******* idiot.

Do you think that Hank Aaron's only record was HR? No, in fact it wasn't even the one he was proudest of. His proudest record comes in the form of total bases, a better indication of a player's all-around abilities than home runs ever will be.

You idiot. Do you realize that Hank Aaron had more than 3000 hits? I am not saying that Bonds is not as good, he is far better. Hank Aaron has 3771 hits!!! Bonds doesn't have 3000 yet. Hank Aaron is in third or fourth place in hits, all time. do not say that he is overrated. He is one of the five best players to ever live and he deserves all the credit that he is given.

Stats are what they are -- STATS.

Hanks stats speak for themselves. Saying Bonds is better is fine. But, to say he doesnt belong in baseball elite is the worst crap I have heard anybody try to peddle in a while.

If things like consistency, longevity, sportsmanship and retiring on top of the all-time homer list does not enable him to be enable him to be on any level - you have a dimented outlook on baseball, let alone sports and life.

Hank Aaron represents everything baseball should be. Even in his retirement and his record being beaten by an alleged steroid abuser - Hank Aaron was graceful.

...and Barry wishes he had the World Series ring Hank has. Aaron was a much better postseason player (Bonds didn't show up as much as he should...he stunk in the postseason with Pittsburgh and most of his time in San Francisco until 2002).

At the time the Braves moved from Milwaukee, Aaron was on pace to set the all time hits record. Had they stayed in Milwaukee he would be remembered as the greated pure hitter ever. He adjusted his swing when he moved to Atlanta; he was that good. Remember he played only 9 of his 23 years in Atlanta. At the time he retired he had more total bases than anybody in history -- by more than 12 miles!!!

Aaron was a truly great hitter. I hate the tedious Bonds-bashing as much as you do, but don't under-rate Aaron's accomplishments because of Bonds.

It is truly sad that Barry Bonds needed human growth hormone and steroids to do what Hank Aaron did without chemicals, and did with natural talent , fortitude and one hell of a swing. Too bad Barry can ONLY do this chemically.

hank aaron was remebered for his type of homeruns. not the ususal "high fly" balls, but more line drive home runs. he is also remebered of because what he went through at the time. hank aaron hit his 755 home runs in an era that had just included black players. he faced a lot of racism and went under a lot of pressure. read his autobiography, its really good. it describes very well how he would recieve literally tons of hate mail, death threaths, and racist comments on and off the field. it described how he was treated differently than his white teamates, sometimes staying in different hotels and eating in different places.
