Our yard has dark green spots all over it. The feces left behind fertilizes the yard (yea!) however, the rest of the yard is not nearly as fertilized, Which leaves polka-dots all over are yard. Not very good curba appeal. First, I know I need to take him to a certain area to avoid the scattered patches. However, how can I repair what's already been done? Thanks in advance.

You're going to have to put nitrogenous fertilizer evenly over the yard. Look into something natural like "seed free steer manure" or something less natural like pelleted fertilizer. In either case, apply only as the directions say. If you put too much, you'll get "root burn" which will kill some of your lawn.

The reason it fertilizes the spots where the dog goes is because it's high in nitrogen. And grass fertilizers like Miracle Gro are high in nitrogen. So, it causes that spot to green up.

Try getting some Miracle Gro Lawn Food and spray it all across your lawn. Then your lawn will all have a high-nitrogen fertilizer, it will all be green, and the poo won't cause the spotted effect.

BTW - Miracle Gro comes in water soluble granules. But, you have to buy the sprayer that attaches to your hose to apply it. The sprayer, of course, is reusable.

Every time he deposits some fertilizer take your shoes off and spead it around with your toes. This will spread out the spots which will eventually cover the lawn entirely.

Sorry...... I just couldn't resist. Have a great day!

Move the feces to a mulch pit. Then when it dries put it in a seeder and seed the yard.

Put him on a leash and walk him to the part of the yard where you will allow him to poop. Preferably the neighbor's yard(just kidding).

You pick up his poop right after he is done.
