I was just noticing on the news tonight how often the word "protect" is used when the media or government officials talk about almost any issue. The government nor the media commonly used the word "protect" when discussing the problems facing Americans in the past. They talked in terms of correcting the problem, not in terms of "protecting" us. I would have to say the Republican party is just as guilty of being a nanny as you feel the liberals are. Its a dialog to make us feel helpless and needy.
So many things that people just felt were a part of life are now discussed in terms of the "government". Hurricanes, terror, foreign trade, etc, are things that the government has a hand in, but they are now things viewed as our need to be protected rather than something that needs to be dealt with. I dislike this mindset.

Because they drank the Kool Aid and think the Government is telling them the truth when the Governement says they will take care of you. Wait until they are the first ones the Government turns on.

Great question. They believe that people cannot take care of themselves but the all-knowing all seeing government knows what is best for them. That is where the power comes from!

This is part of their socialistic ideals. After all, the government is better at running your life than you are, or so the liberals think.

when you have the inability to take care of yourself, you look for any convenient answer...in this case, a free lunch is a powerful sales tool regardless of the consequences and liberals mistakenly think the goverment can provide that. if the government cant take care of their own affairs i certainly dont want them managing mine.

you're right
they don't need to take care of us
i don't even want them to do anything
i'd rather they didn't exist
but if they are going to try and control us and take our money and use it on crap we don't want
then raise healthcare and cut back on education
put us out of work and then claim that we are complaining
then actually
a lil bit of effort to help us is owed
take my money and dictate my way of life
if they are going to laugh at me in sickness and kick my teeth then i don't want to hear any of this "Go America" and United nonsense when clearly by actions it's every man for himself
fine
don't expect my support for stupid decisions

It is easy for some to be confused, when you look at both and they both can be flocked. Generally speaking that is!
