like new car older than 96.
in nys i do not have to follow smog regulations with vehicles older than 96. i have to have all of the parts there but they do not have to function. cars older than that only have a safety inspection and are not subject to an emissions test. besides a 69 vette singray isnt newer than 96. i want an old vette in the worst way. the new vettes are comfortable handle well and are great to drive but i just dont like the body. they are lacking the style that the old stingrays had.
i just was given my grampas 91 f150. i love it because its my gpas. this will be the only ford i will ever own. im a gm man. its in very rough shape but the restoration will be a labor of love and will be done only with the best. also like my 79 gmc sierra this woman likes it very much and says it has character. then there is the 62 dodge d500 dump. good work horse but unfortunately its mopar. at least the skin is. gmc all the way under the hood.

I would like to have something that runs good. The car I have now needs a transmission, oil gasket seal, brakes, rotors, serpentine belt, rims, and a tune up. I hope I didn't miss something. This is after it got just last year new front axles, new tires, new muffler, new flexi hose pipe, transmission mount, and ball joint. Then not too long ago it got a new battery and new alternator. It's a 98 Chevy Cavalier and I still owe $3,000 on the stupid thing. I think I am going to shoot it. I guess it's a good thing I don't own a gun.

I would take the like new older car...I have been burned in the past with the new car thing...it was a lemon from the very beginning! At least with the "like new" car...hopefully some of the mechanical kinks have been worked out already! =D

From a standpoint of the better investment, the older car would come out ahead. New cars lose a couple thousand from their value just by being driven off the lot.

Personally I would like to have a Pontiac Judge if I was to pick an old car. But I would rather have the new Pontiac Solstice more than anything.
