(kg)(x) = ?

Given: k(x) = x^2 +5
Given: g(x) = sqrt (x-3)

For the first one, you need to do g(x) then do k(x) after g(x):

kg(x) = k(sqrt(x-3)) = ((sqrt(x-3))^2 + 5) = (x-3+5) = x+2

For the second one the answer would be:

{(3,1/5)(2,1/4)(1,1/7)}

As the first number in each pair is the x-value and the second is the y. So if you take the reciprocal of f(x), you simply do f(x) and reciprocal the y-values.

kg(x) = (x^2+5)(sqrt(x-3)

1/f(x) = 1/[{(3,5)(2,4)(1,7)}]

k´(x) = 2x

g(x) = (x - 3)^(1/2)

g´(x) = ((x - 3)/2)^(-1/2)
