Saying Liberals feel sorry for terrorists is just as unfair as if a Liberal accused you of calling people savages because they have a different color skin. My feeling, being somewhere in between the two is that I was more that a little unhappy with the treatment of the prisoners of war in that facility. I did care about it. AND IT IS IMPORTANT TO ME that in fighting for America we don't forget the America we are fighting for. If we lose everything America is supposed to stand for in the fight...then we've still lost. I don't know if I explained that clearly. I hope you understand what I mean. I may not like somebody or what they've done, But I do love the value of treating people humanely. I'm not willing to sacrifice that, especially over someone I hold with so little regard.

What makes you think only liberals want to close Guantanamo?? There are a lot of conservatives, including your Commander-In-Chief, who wants that hell hole closed. It is a blighted mark on America's tradition of fair and civil incarceration. "Feeling sorry for the terrorists" is an incorrect assessment: those who want that prison closed believe that the U.S.A. should hold itself to a higher standard, set a better example, and treat all criminals humanely - even if they're among the worst terrorists in the world.
This isn't a "he said, she said" game; America is supposed to be a world leader and global peacekeeper. You don't maintain that kind of status if you stoop to the same level as the rest of the world's 'ruthless savages'. If we do, that makes us no better than they are; and that makes America less of a world leader. -RKO- 08/16/07

Guantanamo Bay and the prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib have been the best recruiting tools that jihadists ever had. They can no legitimately say that the United States is an out-of-control superpower with no regard for the rest of the world.

No, but granting the people there (both US citizens and non-US citizens) the rights guaranteed to them under the constitution would not make it ineffective. I have no problem with the prison, just with the war that is going on against our rights and the rights of all people.

I do not feel "sorry" for terrorists. Stop saying things that are not true. Bush is the one who wants it closed THE PRESIDENT: "I'd like to close Guantanamo, but I also recognize that we're holding some people that are darn dangerous, and that we better have a plan to deal with them in our courts. And the best way to handle -- in my judgment, handle these types of people is through our military courts. And that's why we're waiting on the Supreme Court to make a decision."

No just lock a few Americans terror suspects in there or at least find out why they lock the Allies up in there but not your citizens who are caught doing exactly the same thing.

I don't feel sorry for Bush and Cheney at all. Please tell me you're really a guy in his fifties with a beer belly. That brain behind that face would be a cruel waste. "epic global battle with ruthless savages" how dramatic and...terrorizing.
