I was using my mother's dell laptop and I got up and dropped it. Part of the keyboard came up and there are a bunch of colors and things on the screen. Did I break it? I can still sign onto computer and can open programs but the lines are not going away. Please say someone can help me fix it because my mother will kill me if I broke it.

I just found out she got accidental coverage on her computer so Dell is going to fix it free of charge. Oh I'm so happy. Thank you everyone for answering my question

Unfortunately yes you did break it. Your best bet would be to bring it to her and tell her what happened. trying to cover it up or blame someone else will only make things worse. Maybe if you be up front with it she will be lenient with you...

as far as the screen, the gold fingers that transfer the "images" to the screen are messed up or the thin board has a hair line crack and its unfixable. The best you can do is get a new screen, which usually cost around $200, as i fix them, so i would know.

message me if your interested in having me fix it or if you want to know what a new screen for that laptop costs.

Thanks

Yes, it's broken. If it's broken beyond repair, I don't know. Tell your mum what happened. Bring it to a computer repair shop, they might be able to fix it. Offer to pay for some part of the repair fee from your allowence/babysitting money/ McDonalds job.

Yes, you broke it.

You may need to replace the LCD,

Keys are easy to pop back in, You'll need a stout needle to hook the mechanism on the back end of the keys. If the Keyboard unit poped out,it should just pop back in.

OOOH YOU IN TROUBLE!!!!!!!!! JK, the screen cost as much as the whole laptop usually so you'd be better of replacing the whole thing,

I suggest you leave the country - you've broke it. However you can try and make amends by getting a quote for it to be repaired.
