Back then you could pretty much order what you wanted on your camaro, radio delete if you didn't want one, heater delete, any size engine up to a 396 and if you knew somebody you could order a all aluminun 427 engine with an underrated 450 horsepower, the Z28 was basically a 302 engine car and the SS was a 350 up to 396 but like I say you could order a plain jane old man's camaro with any option you wanted, 4-speed, gear ratios from 3.08 to 4.56 and it was a lot cheaper to buy one like that than to buy the Z28 or the SS plus you had that sleeper look of a 6cyl car with dog dish hubcaps and the big engine.

For starters you are not going to find many '69 Z28's that have not already been restored. Z28's have been valuable for a long time, so most that were around still in need of restoration have already been found and restored. If you could possibly find an original car that wasn't already done, plan on some big bucks. I've seen real Z28 basket cases with original drive-train sell for over $20,000. If you just want the look of a Z28 and don't care if it has the original DZ code 302, you'd be better suited to buy a std. Camaro and build a Z28 clone. Link below to a real X33 Z28 on Ebay. It still has three days left on the auction and if I had to guess probably isn't close to the reserve. This should give you some kind of an idea of what you'll be getting into.

Could be any number of things as options were pretty much whatever the dealer put in a request for. Some Camaro clubs may have access to original dealer option or order forms that may be more detailed. I had a 69 SS that was originally a 350 and transplanted a 427 in it with options like "Vigilight". Cowl-induction, multi-leaf rear springs and others but some came with chambered exhaust---very rare---, hide-away headlights, vacuum-powered traction spray cannisters for the rear tires---pretty rare!!!-- rear disc brakes, custom striping, Indy 500 package and much more.
