The Beckley area. White water rafting at New River Gorge (you may run into senators and congressmen...along with 1 former vice president who all frequent this) http://www.aceraft.com/ and then a trip to Grandview National Park for some gorgeous sights and an evening watching a major production at the outdoor amphitheatre there...http://www.theatrewestvirginia.com/
Tamarack is nearby http://www.tamarackwv.com/ (on the way to Charleston)...it's full of state treasures, local artisans and samplings of the best restaurants. Daniels Vineyard and Winery in nearby Crab Orchard has activities year round http://www.danielvineyards.com/ ...plus wine tasting and various festivities along with tours. If you want a taste of the city, Charleston http://www.charlestonwv.com/ is just slightly over an hour away. (You may run into Jenifer Garner and Ben Affleck who own a home in the Charleston area.)
All of these are near each other and should make a great vacation along with other little local tours and the like. I'd suggest a nice B&B http://www.discoverourtown.com/WV/Beckley/Lodging-261.html OR rent a cabin http://www.cabinsatpinehaven.com/ for the views.

My sister lives in the Clarksburg/Bridgeport area. I've been there, but not Weston or Buckhannon. Clarksburg has more shops, restaurants, things to do than the other 2 places, so I've heard. Weston and Buckhannon are more in the country. But you've been there, so I'm probably telling you something you already know! My family lives in Michigan and they are shocked by how inexpensive homes are in that area. However, I hope you already know where you plan to work or apply for jobs, because I don't know many high-paying jobs in that area, unless you're lucky enough to get in with the FBI or a state government job.

The mountains.
Shenandoah is beautiful. Not sure of the season, but Rhododendrons cover the mountain side.
Charleston is the capitol.
Ohio River, boating and fishing. SR 2 N&S, East end of state.
SR2 Moundsville has the mounds of Moundbuilders. Very little know of them. Also state prison there, not of much interest.
Lots of parks on most routes.
Far South East end, White Sulphur Springs.
I79 is a beautiful drive, N&S.

Watch for the signs on the freeway for "The Tamarack". It's pretty cool and definitely worth seeing -if nothing else than for a walk around. It's a really nice themed gift shop/ visitor center. It's a cool round building with nice scenery and you will probably end up buying something. Worth the stop, trust me.
