I applied for child support (I live in TX) and the father in MO and I'm just curious what are some disqualifications of not getting child support?

There should be no reason he would not pay child support. Having said that, if you are now applying for child support in Texas while he resides in another state there may be some jurisdictional issues at first. Is there an existing order in place from another state? Have you always lived in Texas and he in Missouri? Where was the child born? Were you married at the time? Was paternity established?

There are a lot of questions you do not provide answers to that would be needed to truly help you know what's going on and why. Best bet would be to consult with the states child support enforcement office or an attorney that specializes in family law.

There are few reasons why someone might get out of child support. Number 1, he isn't the father, as shown by genetic testing, 2 he's dead. Well, that's about it. Despite the fact that you live in separate states a Texas support order is enforceable against him in Missouri through the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act which offers continueing jurisdiction and long arm powers to the state entering the order. Another consideration is whether you are taking state assistance, if you are the state will take by right of subrogation the entitlement to recieve child support payments. So while you recieve state assistance (TANF) you will not receive child support directly. Remember however child support payments are not your money, but are held in trust for the benefit of your child.

Tx has really bad child support laws. I had a friend who's ex (father of her two kids) moved to TX and she filed a child support order. by the time all the papers went trough, he would quit and git a new job. kept doing that for months. She kept filein orders and after about 8 of them they told her she couldn't file any more. This was drawn out for about two yrs.

If he's disabled, living on a pension or SSI, if he's in jail, if you make more money than him, if he's on unemployment, if he's on welfare, if he's already supporting another family that's related to him, if he's living off his parents :D
