Good evening, And great question and some of the answers are quite good however DO NOT forget the single most important component to working out..DIET diet diet. A good %70 to a successful routine is your diet. I don't care if you work out 7 days a week, if you are not eating the right foods with the appropriate diet full of carbs, fats and protein then you will never see the results you want. I don't take any supplements because I use real food to get the nutrients I need and I had gotten stuck where I was not getting anymore muscular and adding weight and then I found out about the 20 rep squat and provided you do it correctly it's an effective way for getting bigger and stronger very quickly being if works your whole body. I don't know your physical status now i.e what shape your in, what you eat etc... But all I can is start eating right first. Some people here will have helpful links to send to assist you or you can always search it yourself. Have fun, be safe and good luck!

Getting is shape is a relative thing. Are you going after body mass or trying to reduce your fat percentage. Are you trying to lower your cholesteral or drop your blood pressure. 'In shape' could mean any of these.

If your wanting to hit a target weight, then you need to count calories and excorsie 5 time a week for 1/2 hour. Thats approximatel 2000 calories a day and a two mile walk five times a week.

6 times a week.

Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Nothing other than water in between. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%.

Chew each morsel at least 32 times. Do not touch articles of food or the cutlery in between. This will activate ur body to generate strong signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals.

Take light exercises and brisk walks (minimum 20 min duration) regularly preferably twice a day.

U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time. Do not be in a hurry. It is however to be noted that one cannot change the shape or size of different parts of the body.

That's up to you.
I started going 3 days a week with a day of rest in between. Then I started adding cardio on the days in between.. now I have a four day rotation routine but work out 6 days a week and do cardio 5 times a week to get really lean. (Now I am addicted to the dopamine hit)

Seems you are never really in shape... you just keep working on that thang!

3-4 times a week is more than enough. its more important to focus on the intensity of each workout, rather than how often you work out.
