Dear Missy,

The event that shaped my life was my personal participation as a "grunt" (infantryman) in the Vietnam War. I was a teenager, and athlete and an honor student, when that war began in 1965. I was an old man, a cripple and a dropout when it ended.

I went from being liberal to being libertarian. From being trusting to cynical. From optimistic to pessimistic.

Eventually I got on with life. I left the VA hospital, got an education, and even a job. But I was never really "me" again .

James

Greetings! The era that shaped my personal life has to be the space age. If you are reading this message, for example, you are celebrating one of the contributions from the space program. If you own a microwave oven, you are enjoying another benifit. If you own a cordless phone, then you are celebrating another.

Endless products from the space programs are being used in this current day that you take for granted.
Take care.
