Have you ever had a generic soft drink? Was it as good as the Pepsi or Coke?
A better example would be a sporting event. It is fine to watch on TV, but nowhere near as good as if you were there in the stands.
I could go on and on with analogies. But I won't waist our time. There is nothing better than the real thing.

Have you ever been horny? Imagine being like that all the time. Us as women have so many emotions and need our minds stimulated before our bodies. Men are horny and visual, so if they see something nice that already horniness needs very little stimulation. Also men are typically insecure and the more insecure they are the more they need reassurance from a woman. Translation: sex = reassurance to them. Men don't seem emotion, but they get their emotional fulfillment from intimate connection. Getting Off as you say just isn't enough emotional connection and eats at the core of a man's ego that he is masturbating rather than being with a woman that is more socially acceptable. Besides even men than get sex are still masturbating unless they get it very frequently and even among men that never seem to get enough masturbate quite a bit.

Why do women (I'll generalize it to all since you did that to men) need men to tell them they're pretty and romance them? Can't they just look in the mirror and KNOW they look good and buy their own flowers ?
The anser is YES - they can - but its not much fun that way is it.
Maybe the answer is that both sexes actually have a NEED to feel loved by the other.

its just not the same... Besides, its not just the "getting off" that matters to some men. Some have utterly romantic and beautiful reasons for having sex, others are complete pigs.
I know that nothing beats intimacy between two people, certainly not manual... Sounds to me like someone has a bit of a problem with sexual intimacy... maybe not satisfied... i dont know I could be wrong.

They don't need them for sex, they want them, the companionship! They want the touching, the kissing, the warmth of being inside the female.
Like women can use their toys all day and all night long but the toys can not kiss, hug or hold me afterward.

And seriously, in a mature, well-balanced sexual relationship, men and women enjoy a balance of shared, couples sex (intercourse, oral) and masturbation.

some people enjoy the feeling of another body next to their's. even if it's a one-night stand, having a shared experience is always more intense than a faux experience with yourself.

If it was just about "getting off".....then you're right.
But most people like being with someone they care about....preferably in a committed relationship.
