Well, occasionally you can tell. For the most part however you cannot. You shouldn't be judging people just by their vocabulary and whether or not they spell/punctuate things correctly. I know some very educated people that talk like they never went past the first grade.

It's not possible to tell with absolutely certainty.

But, I think you can get some clues about their education by their writing & speech. (If they're literate and have a fluent graps of the language they're writing or speaking in, for one)

No. For example you can be self taught, or have a learning disability such as dyslexia that would hinder writing and sometimes speech (pronunciation of words) even though they may be very bright.

Intelligence is gained by continuing your pursuit of knowledge, through many avenues - travel, literature, current events, not by a degree on your wall.

It's easy to tell. It can be deciphered by the use of vocabulary, the context of the words and signs of cohesive thought. You can speak well without being a high-minded a**hole.

It has been my experience that neither may give it away. Some very brilliant people just cannot spell! Likewise, their speech may be below par because they cannot present their brilliant ideas in an effective manner. Very interesting question.

Because people with less schooling who have read less books will use simple words. Think about it, when you where 8 you wrote more simplistically than you do now.

Ex( 8 year old): The dog was brown
Ex(older): The dog was a lovely shade of auburn with fleks of deep brown

it is extremely impossible. thats why i get angry whn they post " you're retarded." or " you're stupid" if your question has some typos in it. I also think it's true for everyone, that your speach is different when you're with your friends, than when you're in a work or school envirenment. <3
