With all the taxes the streets should be paved with gold. In other countries, even Cuba, you can buy the medicines that even I need for a nickle. It costs $40 in USA but a dime or nickle in Cuba. President Bush, Please explain this to me! I could buy enough meds for6 years for the cost of what I pay in USA. Why do US citizens have to pay so much? And NO! There are not long waiting lines .

Research and promotion costs are outrageous!!!!
Health care in America is a commodity and not a human right. That is why 45 million people have NO form of health insurance, aproximately the same amount are underinsured and the rest are of the upper middle class and can afford to spend 2 or 3 hundred dollars a month for insurance that will pay for meds AND medical care.
It is even worse for the mentally ill. Budget cuts and lack of services cause people with neurological brain disorders to become homeless and end up in jails and prisons instead of receive health care.
I love my country but, I hate what it does to the poor and ill.

As Gandi said "The greatness of a country is shown by how it treats its weakest citizens"

Yes I agree with what you say. There has to be some way that Americans can get better health insurance. The people that does have insurance pays more and has less coverage. When I first started to work in the school system 22 years ago all of my benefits were paid for. Now just for myself alone I pay about $130 a month and the district probably pays $350 or more. This is a crying shame. The sad part is unless you're on your death bed you can't afford to go to the doctor for all of the co payments. Dental Insurance is even worst. We can't afford to live and can't afford to die and be buried.

Friend, you know the saying YOU CANNOT GET SOMETHING FOR NOTHING, thats what America is. We are a great country, educated, rich. But everything cost something. Everybody wants to be paid for what they know what they have. When the great people that run this country realize that we can sometimes live without getting something back, then we will go forward. Does it make sense to let the gas price go high, because Exxon wants to keep making money. What if a big executive just say one day to the share holders. You know what I am not going to project any gains for next year we are going to keep the gains as it were this year. So the American people can have a calmer year filling up their gas tank and buying food. But if he does that he loses his job and the share holders would pull out their money. So what it is really screwed up WE AS PEOPLE or WE AS CAPITLALISTICS. MAYBE BE BOTH

You can get help in America for medical care. Many hospitals have clinics for the indigent. There are Free Clinics in most small towns and cities. These clinics are based on your financial need. The government offers Medicaid for people who qualify. Many companies offer insurance for their employees which pays for health care and medicines.

Now as to why medicines cost so much this I don't know. We have health insurance which pays a large part of of the medicine bill for us.

Try to get a job which offers insurance where you work. It will help you out a lot. Good Luck.

The above answers pretty well tell it like it is. However, its not just medicine - its everything ! Look what has happened to the price of gas ! Compare your grocery prices for two months - I'll bet the same items for the 1st month would be considerably less than the 2nd month. Its just everything . Salaries just don't commensurate with the cost of living.

Big biz doesn't think we need any charity, they price drugs according to where you live, not actual cost to make the product and a charge to recover costs to discover the drug.Sorry if you want cheap drugs your going to have to move to Canada or Cuba!

Because not enough of us are wealthy enough to afford it. Our priorities are messed up. We'll dump many BILLIONS of dollars onto the thirsty sands of the Iraqi Desert, -but when it comes to providing medical care for the children of the Working Class in this Country- our politicians can't be botherd. :(
