When available RAM is very small, PC starts accessing virtual memory which is verrrrryyyy slowwwww! Easy to fix, just add more RAM or end unnecessary processes in the background. 1Gb is fine for XP and 2Gb for Vista.

virtual memory is the memory you use while in a program, if you have too many programs open it will use more RAM. Your PC has a set amount of virtual memory and once it has been used up, the only way to refresh your memory is to shut down your pc. Certain programs use more RAM than others, outlook, iTunes or other music/video programs are examples of memory 'hogs'. You can find out what your virtual memory is set to by going to: Start, Control Panel (or Settings), System, Advanced, Performance, Settings, Advanced - virtual memory is located there.

RAM does Not fill up but your Hard Drive does and they are two separate pieces of hardware.
RAM is memory the Processor uses when it is executing programs. It's size in measured in Megabytes and gigabytes. IT comes in sizes 128, 256, 512, 1GB. XP and Vista will run good on 1GB of RAM. XP will run on 512 but will be a little slow.
Hard Drive capacity is also measured in MB and GB and sometimes people get the two confused.
If your hard drive is full you can delete some un-necessary files or move them to a second hard drive or external hard drive.

Are you running Windows Vista? If so, it is normal. It is a feature of Windows Vista. If you dont get any error messages about it I wouldnt worry about it. By the way, how much ram is installed on your computer? You can check by right-clicking on My Computer and hitting Properties. Under General in Computer: it should tell you.
