Gardasil is the new vaccine for HPV and Ovarian Cancer..
My doctor says she recommends it to everyone under 26... I'm not sure its necessary.. any thoughts?

The vaccine is extremely expensive! Plus, you get a series of three shots.

It obviously protects against some HPV, but so does safe sex practices. Like the poster above said, definitely wait until long term studies have been done. You don't want to develop health problems or have children with birth defects down the road because of the still unknown side effects of the vaccine.

P.S. It doesn't completely protect you from HPV and cervical cancer! It only protects against certain types of HPV that MAY cause cervical cancer. Other factors that the vaccine does not prevent can still cause cervical cancer. If you do decide to get it, get all of your facts straight first!

It protects against cervical cancer and HPV, the most widespread STD in the world. I got my first shot this past week, and the only thing bad about it was my arm being sore for a few hours. Other than that, request a pamphlet from your doctor's office and you'll find out everything you need to know from that.

I wouldn't get this until I had all the information on its long term affects. Who knows what could happen down the road!

well it prevents getting cervical cancer when ur sexually active and when u get it, it only feels like a little pinch and then 4 months later u get another one of those shots then 2 months later u get the last one. but none of then hurt bad its just a little pinch. its really so that when and if ur sexually avtive u cant get cervical cancer!

i would wait to hear about the long term effects on women, because they don't have them yet
