can they -- yes they can and did -- now was it legal - i would say no but somewhere in their hr regs there is some little paragraph that will state is for some reason a time card submitted has any error or o-mission it could delay the check - suggest you hit your friends and family up for a loan till you get your check -- right now you are saying "i will never work there again" but who knows you might want that job again next summer!!!

If you are an employee (one who will get a W-2), probably not, but the rules vary from state to state, so check with the proper agency for that state (workforce development in Texas, EDD in CA, etc.). If you post the name of the state, a better answer might be available.
If you are an independent contractor (one who will get a 1099), then they are technicially your customer, not your employer, and the labor laws do not apply, but they still have to comply with your contract. Check your contract.

I don't think its legal for an employer to hold your paycheck. If money needs to be taken out because you missed a day, it should not take them 3 weeks to get the new check to you. You need to call your employer and tell them that you need them to cut you a check now, not 3 weeks from now. That money is yours, you earned it (minus the one missed day). The fact that they screwed up in the payroll department is not your problem.

Great results! :) Promo: Well, what a match last night....There's no doubt it was great, but honestly, is anyone really surprised about the outcome? I know I'm not, and any wrestling fan with half a brain out there should have already expected these results. I can tell you people are disappointed that your favorite "Knockouts" couldn't pick up a victory for you, but that's what you get for supporting useless bimbos. Wrestlers like Ms. Extreme, Jamie AJ Lee, and Miss Destiny Vaine aren't people you can count on to deliver great performances for you. Now me on the other hand, I deliver great wrestling every time I step into a ring, regardless of if I'm supported by you blind sheep or not. And I say this because quite frankly, I don't think you people get it. Every time you so much as hear my name, you boo me. News Flash, people: What you say about me doesn't bother me. Your booing is like music to my ears. It doesn't affect or discourage me, if anything it just makes me want to go out there and work twice as hard to make sure that I am victorious. The feeling of getting my hand raised at the end of a match is so much more rewarding than hearing an arena full of people cheering. Now moving on, I just want to point out how obvious the difference in experience levels was last night. You ladies really have a whole lot to learn about wrestling, and even though I would prefer to be wrestling Knockouts that are on the same level as me, I will find a way to adjust to the embarrassment that is YWWA's current woman's division. After the match, I noticed that there is hope for GaleKenzie. They don't have completely unfortunate wrestling skills and they are miles ahead of Ms. Extreme, Jamie AJ Lee, and Miss Destiny Vaine. But I don't want to give them too much credit, after all, they aren't terrific, they're just good compared to the other new Knockouts here. As for what Miss Extreme said about me, sounds like someone still hasn't gotten over the huge spear I landed on her at the end of the match...Get over yourself Extreme, I don't think you want your fans to see you acting like a pissy crybaby, now do you?

In a very polite and inquisitive manner.
Ask them if they would be so kind as to give you the address, phone number, and names of persons to contact at the State Labor Board.
Just tell them that you want to speak to them about a personal matter.
They will get the message.
If needed you can find them on the internet.

They can only hold your paycheck until the next scheduled payday for that company. If you are having problems, do call your Court House and they should be able to give you the number of the Wage and Labor Board, they can help you.
Good Luck!

It depends on that states laws re employers. I would say that they cannot withhold pay, unless you signed something while you were being hired that addresses that. Call your local equal oppertunities office and they will answer all your questions..............good luck, and stay cool by staying in school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
