I hate to sound like this but,
when, ultimately, you get to
the point where they both
have been, better depends
on 1) what you're after and,
2) the day.

I'm sure Knopfler has torn it up
and surprised a LOT of people
who hadn't expected it.

And equally sure that Mr. Perry
is well capable of holding down
a nice, sweet Chet Atkins-ish
"little ol' melody" to make even
Chet proud.

I hate hierarchies, but even guys
like Mr. Jimi, Clapton, Beck and
Page, Gilmour, Walsh and Santana
would all gladly admit they welcome
Mark and ol' Joe in their collections.

Personal preference for me in this case
comes down to CRAVING AT THE TIME.

How cool it would be to have them team-up
in a duo solo album, playing off each other.

Think of the potential millions of people--
listeners and musicians alike--who would
stumble on a newfound joy and appreciation
for either or both after hearing those two
trade licks and runs.

Bet even BB King would be smiling.

Joe Perry is THE guitar god of all rockdom, currently...since Keith Richards died. (lol, ok, so he just looks dead)
