Yes, he got hurt while with Denver during the 2004 season and wasn't offered a contract by any team the next year.

Still, his career is a great story, given his comeback from avascular necrosis. Nobody thought he'd ever play after that, much less rip off a 1,000-yard season.

Yes he did retire from football. That man had a hell of a career. I think he was comeback player of the year twice. One tough S O B.
